Rashid Khan of Afghanistan has picked up the fastest five-wicket haul of all-time in international cricket, breaking record previously set by Pakistani player Umar Gul.
The legbreak googly bowler scribbled his name into the record books after taking just two overs to achieve this feat giving away only three runs as he helped beat Ireland in the second T20 at Greater Noida to win the series.
Earlier in 2013, Pakistan’s Umar Gul took 2.2 overs to claim five wickets as he conceded 6 runs in a T20 match against South Africa.
Rashid Khan’s heroic started at a crucial time for Afghanistan as their opponents needed 41 runs off 22 balls, having seven wickets in hand.
The win also extended Afghanistan’s record streak of 10 victories in T20 internationals.
The honour for Rashid Khan comes as he has been picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad at high price of 40 million Indian rupees (approx. US $600,000).
