Afghanistan won the first One-Day International (ODI) match against Ireland, beating the visitors by 30 runs on Wednesday.
Opted to bat first after winning the toss Afghanistan posted a challenging total of 292 for Ireland to chase it down.
Openers Mohammad Shahzad and Noor Ali Zadran had a great start as the pair built a stand of 68 runs in 10 overs mandatory power.
Shahzad scored 43 off 41 balls while Noor Ali hit 51 off 71 balls.
After the fall of Shahzad, Noor Ali found Rahmat Shah at the crease and the couple managed to add 83 more runs to the total.
Rahmat Shah set the platform for the rest of the batsmen to launch from there on when Noor Ali lost his wicket. Rahmat Shah scored 78 off 98 balls.
In chase of the total Ireland were in the game till the 35th over. The visitors were 206/3 when Dawlat Zadran and Rashid Khan resume their follow up spells.
Dawlat took the important wicket of Irish Captain WTS Porterfield in 37th over who hit entertaining knock of 119 off 98 balls, followed by the wicket of GC Wilson in the same over.
The collapse began thereafter when the visitors lost their remaining five wickets inside 10 overs courtesy of Rashid Khan's late striking.
Dawlat Zadran and Rashid Khan took four wickets each in 9-over spells.
With the win, Afghanistan went 1-0 in five ODI series.
Both sides will play the second ODI match on Friday, March 17.
